Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. Ephesians 5:4
I see and hear many believers use vulgarity. Now I am not talking about taking Gods name in vain. I am talking about pure nasty words. This should never be.
I can understand an occasional slip we are all sinners saved by grace. But we must all make an effort not to use nasty words or tell nasty jokes. Or make nasty comments. It may seem funny at the time but it is not funny.
In the same way faith, if it doesn’t have works, is dead by itself. James 2:17
Am I saying works save us? Absolutely not. We are saved by grace alone.
Using vulgar words does not keep us from being saved. What it does do is place the reality of the good news of Jesus Christ to the unbeliever in jeopardy. They would claim well the Christians language is just as filthy as it was before. I see no difference in their behavior so why should I believe?
I know this is no excuse, but we will be held accountable by Jesus for why these people did not accept His wonderful free gift of eternal life.
When I see a person talk with every other word a vulgar word. First thing I think is, “They are not saved.” That is on me. They may very well be saved but their language sure does not show it.
We all slip occasionally as long as we live here on earth in our mortal body. Why is it however, some of us every time our mouths open nothing but filth comes out of it. Dirty comments, dirty Jokes, vulgar words. This should never be with the Christian. Even when we get angry, we should not use filthy words.
Vulgarity does not have to be just filthy words in my opinion. It can also be insulting others putting down others. Being angry with others for no reason and expressing it plainly in Filthy vocabulary.
Some of us can and do use depression as an excuse. I am severely depressed I have dysthymia. A Chemical depression. I am on medicine for it and occasionally I see a professional. IT is still no excuse if I blurt out vulgar or insulting words. Just because I lose my temper.
We may throw up a challenge. If you do not like my language too bad do something about it. That challenge is only heard by God. I do not know about you but I do not want to challenge God. He created us and I love Him so much I do not want to hurt him. We hurt Him every time we use vulgarity to express ourselves.
I am not putting down those that do. I am just saying, if you are a Christian a true believer and still use filthy language. Ask God to help you not to use it anymore. He will. Then you have to make an effort on your own to stop being angry for no reason and stop using vulgar language.
Instead let us pray for one another. I can use prayer continually. Let us love one another. That is the hardest thing to do but not an option for true believers. Let us forgive one another. Again not an option for true believers.
Let us instead when we are hurt by another tell that other person you hurt me but I forgive you. Then we must mean we forgive. Sometimes a person does not know they upset someone else and hurt them. That is why we are supposed to share one another’s burden all the time. Not to gossip God forbid but to share our own short comings and believe me we all have them.
Only man that ever walked this earth that never sinned is Jesus Christ our LORD and Savior. He never sinned. Yet he became sin for us.
So next time we feel like expressing our hurt and anger publicly, Let us pray and ask Jesus to give us courage and to hold our tongue from saying vulgar hateful things to others.
In Closing. All of us slip and say vulgar things laugh at vulgar jokes. We are not perfect just forgiven. However, that does not excuse us. We still need to completely submit ourselves to God. Resist the devil and He will flee from us. Every time we slip into vulgarity we must ask God for forgiveness, and possibly others. We also must forgive others of vulgarity pointed at us.
Even some unbelievers do not like to hear what I call trash talk. Yes it is not taking Gods name in vain. But it still should never be heard from another believer. God bless you all.
