1 Like snow in summer and rain at harvest, honor is inappropriate for a fool. 2 Like a flitting sparrow or a fluttering swallow, an undeserved curse goes nowhere. 3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools. 4 Don’t answer a fool according to his foolishness or you’ll be like him yourself. 5 Answer a fool according to his foolishness or he’ll become wise in his own eyes.
Proverbs 26:1-5 (HCSB)
6 He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage. 7 The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. 8 As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool. 9 As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools. 10 The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.
Proverbs 26:6-10 (KJV)
11 As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness. 12 Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him. 13 The slacker says, “There’s a lion in the road—a lion in the public square!” 14 A door turns on its hinges, and a slacker, on his bed. 15 The slacker buries his hand in the bowl; he is too weary to bring it to his mouth.
Proverbs 26:11-15 (HCSB)
18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
Isaiah 30:18 (KJV)
10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Jonah 3:10 (KJV)
11 Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and temporary residents to abstain from fleshly desires that war against you. 12 Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that in a case where they speak against you as those who do what is evil, they will, by observing your good works, glorify God on the day of visitation.
1 Peter 2:11-12 (HCSB)
18 And we heard this voice when it came from heaven while we were with Him on the holy mountain.
2 Peter 1:18 (HCSB)
